All Clear

John Biebe held the letter in his hands as if it were made of fine silk. It was the most precious thing he had in his hands in a long time. Ok, almost.
He'd never paid much heed to Siobhan's scent before but at this point he couldn't shake it. Even now, that he had the papers in his hand clearing him of any wrong doing in the shooting, he could only think of her. Damn, she wasn't even his type. He kind of felt she had more balls than he did at times but still, there was something about her that drew him like a moth to a flame right now. Maybe it was in his mind. Maybe she just pity fucked him and since it had been so long since he'd been with anyone, he reverted back to the schoolboy feelings that came with the first bit of attention someone of the opposite sex gave.
Standing from the chair in his room, he took his police radio out of the charger and keyed up the mike.
"Hey, Siobhan,"
"Go ahead, chief." she replied from the patrol car radio.
"We go an all clear. There’s no bill on me, I’m off the hook."
"Yee fucking haw! I'm so happy for you, John but you knew all along it would be okay."
"Yeah. I guess so. How's things going?"
"Great. Bud and I found a lost dog, returned a wallet that was left at Millie's and we had about ten cups of coffee. We're bored shitletss."
"We need to talk to him about staying on."
"Yeah, this place is getting bigger by the minute."
"We'll talk to him. What time you coming in?"
"Midnight. We'll be done with the paperwork by about ten after. We didn't do squat tonight that would require much of a report." she let go of the button on the mike then cued up again. "You wanna celebrate?"
"You bet I do."
"Your place or mine?"
John laughed to himself. She stayed only a few doors down from him at the Inn. "My bed's not made. How about yours for a change?"
"Mine's not made either unless the bed making fairies dropped by. Who cares, hopefully we'll mess it up more."
Dropping his head, John swept a hand through his hair and smiled before he cued up again.
"It's a date."
"Good. Put your uniform on, chief. I got a thing about a man in uniform. It's yours to wear again anyway."
