She'll be Apples

By Bridgid

Lachlan sat on the back steps of the Curry home making short work of an apple. He gnawed away at the sweet fruit as he watched Ashley hang laundry.

There was no arguing with her about it, she insisted that it was fine for her to do this kind of work even though she was carrying their baby. Lachlan wasn’t too sure about it and he made sure he was the one who carried the basket out to the lines for her.

Every day she was more and more beautiful to him. Standing there in the breeze in her beige sundress, he admired the way the breeze blew her hair back and the way it made the dress cling to her body. Her legs were still perfectly shaped with femininely muscled calves from the times she’d spent walking around in tall heels. Her breasts were getting bigger at this point and they were quite high and proud on her chest but the most significant thing about her was the little paunch of her belly. That bump was getting more prominent every day it the sight of it made Lachlan feel all warm and fuzzy. He couldn’t wait to meet the one that was all safe and warm in Ashley’s belly. Maybe it would be a little girl with brilliant red hair just like her mum or perhaps it would be a little boy with green blue eyes just like daddy. Maybe he or she would look a little bit like each of them.

He was looking right at Ashley, bubbling with pride when a gust of wind made her stumble back. Before she could fall, he was right behind her, cradling her in his arms.

With the feel of her very curvy body tight against his he squeezed her tight.

"Let me finish this, love." Running his arm up along hers, he guided her hand to the line to place the next clothes pin on a clean white sheet she’d draped over it.

He felt her shiver a little and at first it worried him but after all the time he spent with her he knew what it was. He knew it was just a signal of the chemistry they shared. The very thought of the Goosebumps that must be covering her thighs right now made him feel the same burst of excitement.

The smile she gave him when she turned in his arms was dazzling. Yes, she was having a good day today. No nausea, no chundering, no touchiness. It was a perfect moment.

"Why, Mister Curry do you think that just because I’m carrying our child that I’m helpless?"

Lachlan shook his head no. "Not helpless, Ash but in need of special handling. Kind of like a fine flying machine. It’s all in the handling but sometimes you have to let it go where the wind blows it. You know?"

"Lach, you sure do have a way with words."

"Ash, you sure do bring out the best in me."

The breezed seemed to become slow and steady. The heavy sheet gave them just enough privacy to kiss in a way that was not for public consumption. As they ended their moment of passion she smiled at him and said "You taste like apples."

He raised a brow and asked "Is that a good thing?"

"Yes, and I think our baby likes apples. See, put your hand here." she said as she reached for his arm and put the palm of his hand on her belly. "Baby is letting us know. Feel the kick?"

Lachlan smiled sweetly. "Rugby player, he is." He paused and added "or she"

"You’re already the apple of his eye." Ashley replied. "Or her eye."

"You reckon he or she would mind if daddy made love to mum?"

Ashley kissed him again before she said. "I don’t think so at all, Lachlan. I don’t think mum would mind at all either."

Scooping her up in his arms, he carried her into their house, leaving the screen door open behind him just for the hell of it.
