"Trouble in the Glen?"

Colin stepped out of the tow-truck and headed into his office. He’d gotten a call earlier that day from the sheriff’s department asking him to come and tow a 4-wheeler from the McGee farm over to the impound lot. Apparently, it was used by a murder suspect and the Sheriff was having it towed so they could have forensics go through it.

"You hear the news, Colin?" Arthur asked, frantically, as Colin walked through the door.

"About the murder?" he replied, grimly. "Yeah, just towed the suspect’s 4-wheeler in for forensics testing." He walked over past the desk where Arthur was seated and poured himself a cup of coffee. "A fuckin’ murder in the Glen... who would have thought, huh, Arthur?"

"I never would have thought it possible," replied Arthur, shaking his head. "I mean, I thought this was a lovely, friendly little town. Makes one think twice about things, that’s for certain."

"I have to admit, though, Arthur," said Colin, taking a seat across from him, "my first thought when I’d heard there was a girl murdered was...well..."

"Kate," Arthur nodded, solemnly, thinking about the scene he had witnessed between Colin, Sid and Kate at the Australia Day celebration.

"Yeah. Right. That fuckin’ weirdo she’s shagging and his strange glass house....just doesn’t seem right, somehow. Wouldn’t have been at all surprised if he had have had something to do with all this."

Arthur nodded in agreement. "Haven’t seen them around since she...umm...."

"Left me? Yeah. I know, Arthur," Colin told him, taking another sip of his coffee. "I thought about that. He’s keeping her pretty secluded. Good thing, too... not sure what I’d do if and when I bump into them out in public."

"Oh, I wouldn’t go doing anything that might land you in jail, Colin!" Arthur exclaimed, thinking about the last time Sid and Colin had it out.

"No worries, Arthur," Colin chuckled. "I’ll be careful. Besides, Kate’s not my problem anymore." He stood up and walked to the garage door, waved to Dom, then turned back and added, "Mr. Armani-wearing-asshole just better watch himself, though."

Arthur bit his lip as he watched Colin shut the door behind himself.
